In January 2024, he completed a unique expedition on the sailing ship Amazone to the southernmost polar region of the globe. The stops along the way were the most incredible in their beauty and danger: Punta Arenas in Chile, Bellingshausen Station on King George Island, Port Lockroy Station, and Ushuaia in Argentina. Blue icebergs and centuries-old glaciers were captured, we were able to visit polar explorers at research stations, explore the caldera of an extinct volcano on Deception Island, trace the history of whaling in the area, and observe thousands of penguins and whales right from the boat.

The total distance covered was 1,100 nautical miles. The expeditions included citizen science research: water samples were taken for microplastics, carbon dioxide levels were measured, and mammals were observed.
Although the trip took place in the Antarctic spring, with temperatures ranging from +2 to -2°C during the day and down to -12°C at night, the preparations required effective and safe products that would reliably protect the skin from the sun's intense rays, reflections from water, and wind. Vitaly Sundakov chose Bronzeada Sport Librederm sunscreen gel for face and body for his first aid kit. "This transparent gel with SPF 50 reliably protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays." “It also moisturizes the skin thanks to the castor oil in its formula, helping to cope with dryness, dehydration, and flaking of the skin,” says Natalia Baklanova, the brand’s communications director, about the gel.

“Bronzeada Sport was easy to use: it spreads quickly, absorbs, and leaves no white marks. "We were in the open water for up to 8 hours, and our skin didn't burn; it withstood our extreme conditions," says Vitaly Sundakov.

"The gel is specially designed for professional and amateur athletes, including those involved in water sports, as well as people who lead an active lifestyle and spend a lot of time in the sun in both summer and winter. We appreciate the trust placed in us by traveler Vitaly Sundakov and are very pleased that we have managed to create a sunscreen that is unique in its effectiveness and form for the Russian market," Natalia comments on the results of the product's testing during the expedition.
